All Hands AI is the company behind OpenHands (formerly OpenDevin), the open-source, model-agnostic coding agent that reads a task, writes and edits code, runs commands, browses the web, tests, and opens a pull request. Founded in 2024 by CEO Robert Brennan and the core OpenHands maintainers — including Carnegie Mellon’s Graham Neubig — it grew out of one of the most active open-source agent projects, with tens of thousands of GitHub stars.

The company’s bet is that an open, model-agnostic agent can become foundational infrastructure for automating routine engineering — unit tests, dependency bumps, small fixes — while a managed OpenHands Cloud and enterprise layer fund the open project. Because it isn’t tied to any single model provider, teams can point it at whichever frontier model they prefer.

All Hands AI is far smaller and earlier than most names in this index: a $5M seed led by Menlo Ventures in 2024, followed by an $18.8M Series A in 2025, for roughly $23.8M raised. Backers include Menlo Ventures, Madrona and Obvious Ventures, plus angels such as Hugging Face’s Thomas Wolf and PyTorch creator Soumith Chintala.
